TCN Refutes Kaduna Electric’s Claim on Jos Power Supply, Says All 330kV Lines Are in Service

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has refuted a statement issued by Kaduna Electric on August 26, 2026, alleging transmission constraints affecting electricity supply to Jos and its environs.

TCN described the claim as false and a misrepresentation of the facts, stressing that all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos are currently in service and transmitting bulk power.

According to TCN, the only recent incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on August 23, 2026, when the Jos–Lafia 330kV Line 2 circuit breaker was opened for voltage control. The company explained that the action was a routine operational measure taken to maintain grid stability.

TCN said the line was successfully restored and returned to service at 11:59 a.m. on August 24, 2026. It added that there has been no outage or disruption of bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos attributable to TCN since the restoration.

The transmission company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and efficient transmission of bulk electricity to Distribution Companies across the country.

It urged Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify operational information with TCN before issuing public statements, noting that inaccurate information could mislead electricity consumers and create unnecessary anxiety.

TCN also appealed to electricity customers in Jos and surrounding areas to disregard what it described as the misleading information, assuring them that it would continue to work with Distribution Companies to ensure stable and reliable electricity supply.
