NAN DG SALUTES NYSC AT 53, COMMENDS SCHEME'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The Director-General of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, has lauded the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its remarkable contributions to national development, youth empowerment, rural advancement, healthcare delivery, educational development, and job creation over the past 53 years.
Malam Ali also commended both former and serving Corps Members deployed to NAN for their dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the agency's operations, noting that their impact would remain indelible.
The NAN Director-General further praised the leadership of the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, describing his stewardship since assuming office as commendable and impactful.
He made these remarks while hosting the NYSC Director-General at the NAN Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the visit, Malam Ali emphasized the importance of developmental journalism in driving national growth and fostering social progress. He reaffirmed NAN's commitment to projecting African narratives, particularly stories that showcase Nigeria's achievements and development efforts, to the global audience.
In his response, Brigadier General Nafiu expressed appreciation to NAN for its objective and consistent reportage of NYSC activities over the years.
He pledged that the existing partnership between the NYSC and NAN would continue to grow stronger in the interest of national development.
The NYSC Director-General also assured that the Scheme would continue to build on its achievements through innovative programmes and initiatives aimed at enhancing its contributions to national development and youth empowerment.
