Senator Ningi Mourns the Death of Kano State Contingent

NSF Tragedy: Senate Committee Chairman on Sports Ningi Mourns Demise of Kano Athletes, Officials 

The Senate Committee Chairman on Sports, Senator Abdul Ningi has expressed profound grief over the tragic loss of members of the Kano State contingent to the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) otherwise known as Gateway 2024 in Ogun State, who died in a fatal road crash on Saturday on their way back from Ogun State. 

Senator Ningi in an official condolence statement he personally signed on Monday, extends his committee heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, the Government of Kano State, and the Federal Government of Nigeria over the loss of young promising athletes and their officials to the cold hands of death.

“When i received the news of the incident, it was a rude shock to me, therefore, on behalf of the House Committee on Sports and the entire senate of the federal republic of Nigeria, I am deeply pained by the loss of lives in the auto crash involving young athletes, officials, and journalists on their way back from the festival in Ogun State,” 

“This is a shocking, tragic, and unfortunate incident—one that demands national mourning, not just in Kano, but across the country.”

The former president of Hockey Federation of Nigeria who represents Bauchi Central Senatorial District at the Senate described the accident as an unfortunate one and a call for sober reflection.

The seasoned lawmaker also extends his condolences to the sports family in Nigeria, particularly the leadership of National Sports Commission (NSC) the body responsible for the management of sports in the country.
