‎Stakeholder Advocates for Women Inclusiveness in Governance

The 35% affirmative action policy is described as given women opportunity in leadership positions. Amb Queen Blessing U. Nwamba, made this known recently in an exclusive interview with Journalists in Abuja.

Amb Queen Blessing U. Nwamba, is the first Queen of the International Family Pageant, Ambassador at the African Union Agenda 2025 Ambassadorial Assembly, and Special Envoy for Women and Gender at the United World Congress of Diplomats. According to her, 35% affirmative action policy is about given women a fair chance in leadership positions. When women are at the decision-making table, communities benefit from balanced policies, stronger economies, and more inclusive governance.

She said Women should be given 35% affirmative action because it helps correct historical and systemic gender imbalances in leadership, decision-making, and access to opportunities.‎ Diverse teams especially those that include women tend to make more balanced, people-centered, and innovative decisions.‎

‎She further said that Sustainable Development Goal 5, (SDG 5) focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. It's one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the UN in 2015, with the aim of ensuring that women and girls have equal rights and opportunities, and can live free from violence and discrimination.

Amb Queen Blessing, who is the Ambassador at the African Union Agenda 2025 Ambassadorial Assembly, said African Union Agenda 2063 is Africa’s blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the continent’s strategic framework that aims to deliver on its goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.

"The Organization of African Unity (OAU), the precursor to the African Union (AU), laid the foundation for continental unity. Building on this legacy, the AU, through its Agenda 2063, prioritizes inclusive social and economic development, regional and continental integration, democratic governance, peace, and security. These strategic commitments are aimed at repositioning Africa as a dominant and influential player on the global stage." Amb. Blessing said.
