FRSC Averts Major Disaster as Loaded Fuel Tanker Crashes in Kaduna

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has successfully averted a major disaster following a lone crash involving a loaded fuel tanker at NEPA Roundabout along Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna, in the early hours of Sunday, 8 February 2026.

The incident occurred at about 0715hrs, when the Kaduna Sector Command received a distress call reporting that a fuel tanker had fallen at the location. Upon receipt of the information, a rescue team from RS1.1 Kaduna Sector, led by the Deputy Route Commander (DRC), I. Gunda, was immediately deployed to the scene.

On arrival, FRSC personnel promptly secured the area by closing all roads leading to the crashed tanker to prevent secondary crashes and any possible fire outbreak. Traffic diversion was swiftly implemented to ensure smooth vehicular movement and minimise congestion within the metropolis.

Personnel of the Federal Fire Service and the Nigerian Police Force are currently on ground, working collaboratively with the FRSC to ensure public safety. Efforts are ongoing to safely evacuate the fuel content and remove the tanker from the road to enable the full restoration of normal traffic flow.

No casualty was recorded as at the time of filing this report.
