Queen Elizabeth Class of 84 launches the book titled: “Fun Facts of my Class Mates”
Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin Class of 84 recently launched a book titled: Fun Facts of my Class Mates, authored by Iyabo Mercedes Jonathan (Adams), in Abuja
The event converged dignitaries and well meaning Nigerians, including Class of 84 who are successful in all fields of human endeavours.
Speaking with the GreenLand News, Chief Duro Adeyele, SAN, praise the giant strides of the Class of 84, urging them to continue showing love to one another and being their sister keepers.
In his words:
“It is a good thing that Iyabo who is like a daughter to me is being recognized by her class mates, even thinking of helping her out in time of trouble. I pray that God will help her to recover completely from all the troubles. And those of you who have put this together, God will bless you.”
Yeye Adesola Oyinloye-Ndu, former Vice Head Girl, Day Student, said, the purpose of event is to give back to their alma mater, stay united and lean on each other.
She also expressed how the dream of the book launch came to reality. According to her, “it started last year when I was thinking of how to give back to one of us who always send us banters and birthday wishes on our birthdays. We started putting things together, our school anthem, the song we sang at school, teachers, pages of the book, and the things we did at school.”
Yeye Adesola, charged other young ones coming up to stick together as one and they will always be stronger together.
Other dignitaries of Class of 84 includes: Chief Mrs Victoria Olufumilayo Awomolo, SAN, (Teacher), Barr. Funke Balogun, Dr Aisha Ndayako, Mrs. Adeleye Marian Kinder, Toying Ishola, Dr Fatimah Obadaki Sule, Engr. Abatan Oluwatoyin, Nura Bello, Iyabode Danlami-Adams, Tayo Adeleke, Bunmi Olowookere, Toying Joe Bassey and host of others.
It is noteworthy to note that Queen Elizabeth School just like other old secondary schools in Nigeria has had a history of excellent academic performance by its students. Since the school inception has been able to achieve the objectives of its founding fathers given the high calibre of women it has produced. They are found as movers and shakers of the Nigerian society either in government or business. This is a reputation which the school has often flaunted with the slogan, “We are always first”. Among the first as listed on the school’s board hung at its reception is the former First Lady of f Nigeria, Hon. Justice Fati Lami Abubakar, first female Presidential aspirant, Mrs. Sarah Jubril; first Vice Chancellor of University of Abuja, Dr. Gambo Laraba Abdullahi; first female Engineer in the North – Engr. Yelwa Tella; first female Veterinary Doctor in West Africa – Dr. (Mrs) Fabunmi; first Executive Secretary, National Women Commission – Dr. Eyantu Ifene; first Executive Secretary, National Mass Literacy Agency – Hajia Iyami Ahmed; first female Solicitor-General and Director-General, Ministry of Justice, Kwara State.
