FG Pays Fresh ₦152bn to Contractors as Dialogue Progresses — BAVCCA
The Bloggers and Vloggers, Content Creators Association of Nigeria (BAVCCA) says the Federal Government has released an additional ₦152 billion to contractors with verified claims, following Monday’s protest at the Ministry of Finance.
BAVCCA’s National Secretary, Tabuko Kennedy, explained that the concerns raised by contractors are genuine, noting that many have struggled due to delayed payments. The association’s enquiry also confirmed that the issue began long before Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, assumed office.
According to BAVCCA, about 80% of verified obligations have now been settled, while the remaining claims are undergoing reconciliation. Government and contractor representatives have agreed to hold roundtable discussions to fast-track the outstanding payments.
BAVCCA commended the Minister for her calm and cooperative approach, emphasizing that she had appealed for patience while familiarizing herself with the inherited challenges. The association noted that her willingness to listen and engage constructively has helped ease tensions.
The group also stressed the need for contractors to continue using lawful and structured channels to seek redress, saying this will support smoother communication and quicker resolutions. It urged all parties to stay committed to dialogue rather than confrontation.
BAVCCA further appealed to the media to report responsibly, cautioning that exaggerated or inflammatory narratives could heighten public anxiety. The association maintained that transparency, mutual respect, and steady engagement are the most effective paths toward fully resolving the matter.
