Deputy Speaker Kalu Celebrates Obasanjo at 89

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has congratulated former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the occasion of his 89th birthday.

In a congratulatory message, Kalu described Obasanjo as a towering statesman, visionary leader, and champion of democracy whose remarkable achievements have helped shape Nigeria’s history.

The Deputy Speaker noted that Obasanjo’s courageous leadership in transitioning Nigeria to democratic governance in 1979, as well as his commitment to fostering peace and promoting economic development, earned him a revered place in the nation’s history.

He said:

“Your selfless service, integrity, and commitment to Nigeria’s political and economic development have inspired generations of leaders. Your legacy continues to guide us towards a more perfect union where justice, equality, and opportunity thrive.

“On this special day, I celebrate your life, achievements, and enduring impact. Your steadfast dedication to democratic principles has strengthened our great nation, and we remain grateful for your service.”

Kalu also prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the elder statesman, wishing him good health, happiness, and peace.

“May God continue to bless you with good health, happiness, and peace as you celebrate this milestone birthday,” the Deputy Speaker said.
