Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed declares 2026 a year of renewed commitment.

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, mni, has declared 2026 as a year of renewed commitment, professionalism and enhanced service delivery, while addressing Officers and Marshals during his first parade of the year.

In his remarks, the Corps Marshal reaffirmed that discipline, unity, professionalism and dedication to service remain the foundation and identity of the FRSC. He stressed that every Officer on patrol represents the image of the Corps and is constantly under public scrutiny. He therefore warned that acts of indiscipline, incivility or unprofessional conduct would no longer be tolerated.

Describing patrol teams as frontline ambassadors of the Corps, he charged them to uphold courtesy, professionalism and the FRSC core values of transparency, fairness, timeliness and service orientation in the discharge of their duties.

Mohammed disclosed that the 2026 Corporate Strategic Goals of the Corps have been approved and circulated, directing all formations across the country to align their operations with the goals through clear strategic initiatives, actionable plans and performance-driven job binders.

On security, he urged all personnel to remain vigilant and conscious of their surroundings both on and off duty, in view of increasing incidents of kidnapping, robbery and banditry. He emphasised that prevention remains a critical approach to ensuring personal and collective safety.

Speaking on staff welfare, the Corps Marshal encouraged Officers and Marshals to prioritise their health by undergoing regular medical checks and subscribing to available health plans, noting that good health is essential to effective service delivery.

Outlining management’s focus areas for 2026, he highlighted smarter operations for better service delivery, quicker responses to crash scenes and emergencies, improved supervision and public engagement, zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct, stronger welfare support, and protection for disciplined and committed personnel.

He further announced that welfare interventions would be sustained throughout the year, including continuous training and capacity building, merit-based promotions, increased approval for further studies, timely promotions, renovation of field command accommodations, prompt payment of salaries and allowances, improved deployment practices, enhanced access to medical care, strengthened cooperative schemes and intensified efforts to ensure prompt settlement of insurance claims.

Mohammed issued a firm warning against all forms of misconduct, including extortion, abuse of authority, incivility to motorists and any action capable of tarnishing the FRSC’s image. He urged Commanding Officers to mentor subordinates, exercise effective supervision and lead by example.

He concluded by encouraging all Officers and Marshals to remain hopeful, focused and innovative, expressing confidence that 2026 would be a landmark year for the Federal Road Safety Corps and its personnel.
