AMAC Chairman-Elect Christopher Maikalangu Donates Borehole to NUJ FCT, Pledges Stronger Grassroots–Media Partnership

The Chairman-Elect of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, has donated a borehole to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, reaffirming his commitment to grassroots development and strategic partnership with the media.

The donation was announced on Thursday during a congratulatory courtesy visit by the Chairman of NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, following Maikalangu’s victory in last Saturday’s municipal elections. She was represented by the Council’s Vice Chairman, Yahaya Ndambabo.

Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, Ndambabo expressed appreciation for the warm reception and the borehole donation, describing it as a clear demonstration of the chairman-elect’s people-focused leadership and dedication to media collaboration.

He congratulated Maikalangu on what he termed a well-earned landslide victory, noting that the outcome reflected the overwhelming confidence reposed in him by residents of AMAC.

Ndambabo also highlighted key infrastructural strides recorded during Maikalangu’s first term, particularly in Sabon Lugbe and other communities, while reaffirming the NUJ FCT Council’s commitment to responsible coverage and electoral monitoring across AMAC and the five other area councils in the FCT.

“This victory speaks to your grassroots connection and performance-driven leadership, now further underscored by this generous donation to the NUJ FCT Council,” he said, urging the chairman-elect to consolidate on his achievements in his second term.

In his response, Maikalangu thanked the NUJ FCT Council for the visit and its consistent professional support. He attributed his re-election to sustained grassroots engagement, infrastructure renewal, and empowerment initiatives that resonated strongly with voters.

“Politics is local; it is about the people at the grassroots, not just the city centres,” he said, noting that his first-term projects laid a solid foundation for renewed public trust.

He further commended the unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that effective grassroots mobilization significantly boosted voter turnout in the elections.

Maikalangu added that the borehole donation reflects his administration’s commitment to collaborative development and sustained engagement with critical stakeholders, including the media.
