Strengthening Impact: BPW Nigeria at RWVL/ActionAid Workshop

Abuja, Nigeria – Business and Professional Women (BPW) Nigeria has reaffirm days its commitment to advancing women's rights and strengthening organizational effectiveness through active participation in a five-day capacity-building workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Communications, organized by the Renewed Women's Voice and Leadership (RWVL) in partnership with ActionAid Nigeria.

The workshop, held over two days virtually and three days physically, brought together Monitoring and Evaluation Officers and Communication Officers from partner organizations across Nigeria to strengthen their technical capacity in monitoring programme outcomes, measuring impact, documenting evidence, and communicating development results effectively.

The training forms part of RWVL and ActionAid Nigeria's commitment to building stronger civil society organizations capable of promoting women's rights, gender equality, accountability, and inclusive development. It also aimed to equip partner organizations with practical tools to improve project implementation, learning, reporting, advocacy, and evidence-based decision-making while ensuring that the voices and experiences of women and marginalized groups are reflected in development programming.

BPW Nigeria was represented physically by Olaronka Olajide, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and Peace Ofeoshi, Communication Officer, while the Programme Manager, Princess Osa-Osaghae, participated virtually throughout the training.

Throughout the workshop, participants received practical sessions on results-based monitoring and evaluation, data collection and analysis, impact measurement, strategic communications, digital storytelling, documentation of success stories, media engagement, knowledge management, and accountability frameworks. The sessions also encouraged peer learning and collaboration among partner organizations working to improve the lives of women and girls across Nigeria.

Speaking after the training, the BPW Nigeria representatives described the workshop as timely, insightful, and impactful, noting that it has equipped the organization with improved tools to effectively monitor projects, evaluate outcomes, and communicate achievements to stakeholders, donors, and the public.

According to the team, the knowledge gained will significantly improve BPW Nigeria's programme implementation by strengthening evidence-based planning, enhancing transparency and accountability, improving project reporting, and ensuring that the voices and experiences of women beneficiaries are accurately documented and amplified.

The organization further noted that stronger monitoring and evaluation systems will enable BPW Nigeria to assess the effectiveness of its interventions, identify lessons learned, improve programme quality, and maximize the impact of initiatives focused on women's economic empowerment, leadership development, advocacy, and social inclusion.

In addition, the enhanced communication skills acquired during the workshop will enable BPW Nigeria to develop compelling stories, reports, advocacy campaigns, and digital content that showcase the impact of its work, strengthen public engagement, attract strategic partnerships, and influence policies that benefit Nigerian women.

The workshop also provided an important platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among ActionAid Nigeria's partner organizations, fostering stronger partnerships and collective action towards achieving gender justice, women's leadership, and sustainable development.

BPW Nigeria expressed appreciation to RWVL and ActionAid Nigeria for organizing the capacity-building initiative, describing it as a strategic investment in strengthening partner organizations and enhancing their capacity to deliver measurable, impactful, and sustainable programmes.

The organization reaffirmed its commitment to applying the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to improve programme delivery, strengthen institutional effectiveness, promote accountability, and continue championing initiatives that create lasting opportunities for women and girls across Nigeria.
