FRSC CRACKS DOWN ON DEADLY MIXED LOADING IN KADUNA DURING EASTER SPECIAL PATROL

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Sector Command, has intensified enforcement against the dangerous practice of mixed loading, intercepting several offending articulated vehicles during the ongoing Easter Special Patrol.

The decisive operation followed firm directives from the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, and was led by the Sector Commander, CC Tijani Iliyasu. The team apprehended multiple articulated vehicles conveying a hazardous mix of over 100 passengers, animals, and goods along key transport corridors.

Describing mixed loading as a “ticking time bomb” on Nigerian highways, the Corps Marshal condemned the practice as a gross violation of safety regulations that turns vehicles into potential death traps. He noted that in the event of a crash, occupants face severe risks, including being crushed by shifting cargo or injured by livestock, significantly reducing their chances of survival.

He further warned that beyond the immediate threat to lives, mixed loading undermines vehicle stability, weakens braking efficiency, and greatly increases the likelihood of fatal road traffic crashes.

The Corps reiterated that the ongoing enforcement underscores its zero-tolerance stance against all forms of traffic violations that endanger public safety. Operators and drivers nationwide have been strongly cautioned to desist from such practices or face strict sanctions, including arrest and prosecution.

The Corps Marshal also urged all road users to adopt responsible driving habits, particularly during the Easter period, which is characterized by increased vehicular movement across the country.

FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through sustained nationwide enforcement, intelligence-driven patrols, and robust public enlightenment campaigns. Members of the public and stakeholders are encouraged to support these efforts by complying with traffic regulations, emphasizing that road safety remains a shared responsibility.
