SGF APPOINTS TWO DEPUTY CORPS MARSHALS FOR SOUTH EAST AND NORTH EAST ZONES
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Distinguished Senator George Akume, CON, has approved the elevation of two Assistant Corps Marshals (ACM) to the rank of Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM) for the South East and North East geopolitical zones. The appointment of the highly experienced officers reflects a strategic move to deepen leadership capacity, enhance operational efficiency, and further consolidate national road safety management.
The newly appointed Deputy Corps Marshals are DCM Hyginus Omeje, who currently heads the Operations Department, and DCM Mark Sabiya, who oversees the Department of Finance and Accounts, both at the FRSC National Headquarters.
According to the SGF, the decision stems from the need to deploy seasoned, disciplined, and performance-driven officers to key command positions in order to strengthen road safety administration and improve service delivery to Nigerians.
Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps described the appointments as a well-considered and timely intervention that reinforces the Corps’ leadership structure at a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s road safety evolution.
He noted that both officers have demonstrated decades of exceptional service, operational excellence, and unwavering commitment to the Corps' mandate. Their elevation, he said, will further enhance command effectiveness, deepen stakeholder engagement, and improve the implementation of targeted safety initiatives.
The Corps Marshal also charged the new Deputy Corps Marshals to deploy their vast experience toward tackling emerging traffic and road safety challenges across the country.
