Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim Seeks Inclusion of Ore–Okitipupa–Igbokoda Road in Federal Repair Works

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South Senatorial District, has called on the Federal Government to expand the ongoing rehabilitation of the Akure–Ore Road to include the long-neglected Ore–Okitipupa–Igbokoda Unity Road.

Presenting his motion during plenary on Thursday, December 4, 2025, Senator Ibrahim underscored the strategic importance of road construction and maintenance to national economic growth, particularly along corridors experiencing rapid commercial expansion and oil-related activities.

He noted that despite Ondo State contributing more than 7 percent of Nigeria’s crude oil revenue, the key access route to many of its oil-producing communities remains in disrepair. The lawmaker described the road as a crucial “unity route” linking several communities in Ondo South and deepening their economic, social, and cultural cooperation.

Senator Ibrahim warned that continued exclusion of the road from federal intervention threatens equity and fairness, potentially eroding public confidence in government development priorities.

Following deliberations, the Senate urged the Federal Ministry of Works to incorporate the Ore–Okitipupa–Igbokoda Federal Road into the ongoing repair programme. The intervention, when implemented, is expected to ease transportation constraints, boost economic productivity, and strengthen unity among oil-producing communities in the region.
