NCC Begins Stakeholder Engagement on Spectrum Roadmap 2026–2030

A high-level stakeholder engagement hosted by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) opened today at the Communications and Digital Economy Complex, Mbora, Abuja, bringing together key industry players to deliberate on Nigeria’s Spectrum Roadmap 2026–2030.

The event, which marked Day 1 of the multi-day engagement, featured representatives from both the public and private sectors, including spectrum experts, technology partners, and development agencies.

Among those in attendance were Dr. Nihinlola Fafore, Deputy Director, Huawei Business Environment/Affairs Nigeria; Engr. Atiku Lawal, Head of Spectrum Administration at the NCC; Engr. Gidado Maigana Ahmed, Head of Fixed Networks and Converged Services (NCC); Mr. Abubakar Hammanyaji, Head of Spectrum Assignment (NCC); Mr. Idongesit Udo, Country Lead of the UK’s Digital Access Program (FCDO); and Dr. Joseph Emeshili, Head of Spectrum Planning (NCC).

Discussions focused on three major issues: the draft Spectrum Roadmap for 2026–2030, guidelines for the use of the 60 GHz band for multi-gigabit wireless systems, and the policy framework guiding the lower 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi 6 deployment in Nigeria.

The forum is expected to shape regulatory pathways that will enhance broadband penetration, support emerging technologies, and strengthen Nigeria’s digital ecosystem over the next decade.
