Tinubu’s Salary Donation to Armed Forces Reflects Strong Commitment to National Security — TMV

The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has lauded Bola Ahmed Tinubu for donating his annual salary to the Nigerian Armed Forces, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of his unwavering commitment to national security and the welfare of security personnel.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group noted that the President’s action underscores his deep personal concern over the country’s security challenges.

The group highlighted that, as part of activities marking his 74th birthday, President Tinubu announced the establishment of a dedicated welfare fund aimed at supporting members of the armed forces—particularly those wounded in active service—as well as the families of fallen heroes.

According to TMV, the President also directed the Accountant-General of the Federation to create a special account to cater to injured service members, widows, dependents, and children of deceased personnel.

Describing the move as compassionate and statesmanlike, the group said it reflects the President’s determination to ensure that those who sacrifice for the nation are not abandoned or forgotten.

TMV further praised the President for opting for a reflective and impactful commemoration of his birthday, rather than a celebratory event, noting that such restraint signals responsible leadership.

The group also acknowledged the President’s call on the private sector, affluent individuals, members of the National Assembly, and other well-meaning Nigerians to contribute to the fund.

“With this gesture, there is no doubt that the President has demonstrated his solemn obligation as the nation’s leader to honour and support Nigerian patriots, both living and fallen,” the statement added.

TMV commended President Tinubu for leading by example by committing all his annual salaries since 2023 to the fund, noting that such action reinforces the administration’s promise to match the selfless service of security personnel with dignity, care, and institutional support.
