TCN Updates on Rehabilitation of Four Vandalized Towers Along Afam-IPP–Elelenwo 132kV Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced rehabilitation work on four transmission towers vandalized along the Afam-IPP–Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line.

The vandalism was discovered on August 6, 2026, by TCN’s lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region. Towers T50 to T53 were affected, with critical tower members removed and carted away by vandals.

According to TCN, this is the fifth vandalism incident recorded along the same transmission line in recent times, highlighting the persistent threat posed by infrastructure vandalism to the stability and reliability of electricity transmission across the country.

As rehabilitation work progresses, TCN urges all stakeholders, including host communities and members of the public, to join hands with the company in protecting critical transmission infrastructure and curbing the menace of vandalism.
