The Democratic Front (TDF) has said that the recent allegation by former President Olusegun Obasanjo against former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has reignited public discussion about the former Vice President's integrity and political record.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Wale Adedayo, the group referred to Obasanjo's claim that Atiku allegedly offered a N5 million bribe to the late former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na'Abba, in connection with an alleged impeachment plot.

According to TDF, while the late Ghali Na'Abba is no longer alive to respond to or clarify the allegation, the fact that it was made by a former President against his former deputy has generated public interest and deserves attention.

The group noted that Obasanjo has, over the years, publicly criticised Atiku's conduct in office and political career, including allegations contained in his memoir, My Watch. It argued that the latest claim is likely to add to ongoing public scrutiny of Atiku's political record.

TDF also expressed the view that Atiku's response to previous allegations and the absence of legal action over some of the claims have continued to fuel public debate, although the former Vice President has consistently denied allegations of wrongdoing.

The group maintained that Nigerians should carefully assess the character, record, and leadership qualities of all presidential aspirants ahead of the 2027 general election before making their choices at the polls.
