NCC Boss Urges Staff to Go Extra Mile in Service Delivery

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Aminu Maida, has urged staff of the Commission to prioritise prompt responses, accountability and professionalism in delivering quality services to consumers and other stakeholders.

Maida made the call during his address to mark the 2026 Customer Service Week at the NCC headquarters in Abuja, under the theme, “Going the Extra Mile.”

He said service delivery remained central to the Commission’s mandate, stressing that its policies, decisions and regulatory interventions should ultimately improve stakeholder experiences and support the development of Nigeria’s communications sector.

According to him, going the extra mile involves listening carefully, responding promptly, communicating decisions clearly and ensuring that issues raised by stakeholders are properly addressed.

“In an increasingly digital environment, people expect services that are efficient, transparent and responsive,” he said, adding that technology and systems must be complemented by sound judgment, empathy and professionalism.

The NCC chief also emphasised the importance of internal service, noting that effective collaboration, timely information-sharing and cooperation across departments would enhance the Commission’s overall performance.

He commended NCC staff for their contributions, particularly those handling consumer complaints, engaging with licensees, supporting regulatory processes, managing communications and providing internal services.

Maida further acknowledged consumers, industry partners and other stakeholders, describing their feedback as essential to identifying areas requiring improvement.

He encouraged staff to identify and address recurring complaints, delays and processes that create unnecessary difficulties for stakeholders, saying such efforts would translate the Commission’s commitment to service excellence into measurable results.

The EVC/CEO urged employees to treat stakeholders with courtesy and respect, uphold integrity and take ownership of their responsibilities, noting that these everyday actions would strengthen public trust and confidence in the Commission.

He called on staff to sustain the spirit of “Going the Extra Mile” beyond the celebration and make it a consistent part of their daily responsibilities.
