Mrs. Titilayo Advocates for Women Empowerment, Education, Training 

The Media and the Civil Society Organisation (CSO’s) dedicated the month of March for women based on International Women’s Day (IWD) and Mother’s Day which is on 30th of March. The GreenLand News Media Team visited Mrs Titilayo Alayande, a woman leader to get her take on the important of these days to women.

Speaking with the GreenLand News, on the significance of International Women's Day (IWD), Mrs Titilayo Alayande, Director, Department of Quality Assurance FCTA, expressed gratitude for being part of the discussion and highlights the importance of women's work and their role in inspiring future generations.

She buttressed on the traditional roles of women as mothers, sisters, organizers, and housekeepers, and the societal expectations placed on girls from a young age. And the natural development of women's multitasking abilities and the importance of investing in women from childhood to empower them for future responsibilities.

She highlighted the global concern for women's empowerment and development, aiming for balance and equality without inequality based on the United Nations declaration on gender balance.

 Mrs. Titilayo noted the significance of the month of March for celebrating women and calling for more action, with government efforts to promote gender balance and women's empowerment. These includes, the establishment of ministries and secretariats for women at the grassroots level to handle women's issues and improve strategies for empowerment.

She Advocates for education and vocational training for Women while sharing experiences of placing women in key positions in Nigeria and the positive impact of young, promising women with initiative. The creation of a secretariat for women in the FCT and its impact on women at the grassroots, including training in skills to improve their livelihoods.

Also, the role of the Department of Mass Education in promoting adult education, continuing education, and vocational training for women and to provide training in simple skills that enable women to support their families.

She also explained the importance of Financial Literacy and Digital Skills for Women, collaborating with financial institutions to teach women how to do business digitally.

She mentioned recent training of 500 women on financial literacy and the impact of providing Android phones to help them transact business. And emphasized the importance of empowering women to ensure they are not left behind in the digital world.

 She talks about the importance of linkages and networking for women empowerment, with a call for civil society to support women in these areas. Also, the need to accelerated action in financial support, networking, and collaboration for women's issues. And the decline in trade fairs and trade shows, which previously provided opportunities for women to connect and improve their businesses.

Mrs. Titilayo, called on the government and Civil Society to accelerate action in all areas affecting women's empowerment and reducing poverty.

 The conversation includes the need for honesty and fear of God in all efforts to empower women and achieve positive results.
