Group Backs Tinubu's Remarks on Opposition Ahead of 2027 Elections
A political advocacy group, the Democratic Front (TDF), has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu's assessment of Nigeria's opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, the group said it agreed with the President's position that the opposition lacks a clear vision and viable alternatives to the policies of the current administration.
According to TDF, opposition parties have often criticized government policies without presenting what it described as workable alternatives. The group also accused opposition leaders of relying on what it termed exaggerated narratives and inaccurate data in their assessment of the country's political and economic situation.
The group further argued that allegations that the Tinubu administration is seeking to establish a one-party state are unfounded. It maintained that internal challenges within opposition parties should not be attributed to the ruling government.
TDF also referenced the political records of some opposition leaders, claiming that past actions by certain figures had contributed to measures perceived as limiting the activities of political parties.
Commenting on emerging opposition alliances, the group said recent developments have raised questions about the consistency of some opposition leaders' democratic ideals and political positions.
The Democratic Front urged Nigerians to evaluate the performance of political parties and candidates ahead of the 2027 elections and make informed choices at the polls.
The statement reflects the position of the Democratic Front and has not received an official response from the opposition parties mentioned.
