FRSC RECORDS ZERO CRASHES, RESTRICTS 858 ARTICULATED VEHICLES AS “OPERATION SAFE KUGBO” GAINS MOMENTUM

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has achieved a significant safety milestone, recording zero road traffic crashes involving articulated vehicles along the Kugbo outbound corridor since the launch of its enforcement exercise, Operation Safe Kugbo, on 18 March 2026.

As part of the sustained and coordinated operation, the Corps has so far restricted 858 articulated vehicles and trucks from operating along the corridor during peak traffic hours, a move aimed at reducing congestion and enhancing road safety.

This notable achievement is driven by the strategic leadership of the Corps Marshal, with the initiative firmly anchored in the provisions of the National Road Traffic Regulations (NRTR), particularly Section 223, as well as the FCT Traffic Regulations.

The operation also aligns with the Corps’ 2026 Corporate Strategic Goal 1, which focuses on drastically reducing road traffic crashes and improving safety outcomes nationwide.

At the operational level, the Unit Commander, RS7.13 Nyanya, CRC WF Luka, continues to lead a committed team of personnel, deploying targeted patrols, strategic positioning, and real-time traffic control measures to ensure compliance during peak periods.

The FRSC reiterates that the operation is ongoing, with intensified monitoring and enforcement efforts to consolidate the gains recorded so far. The zero-crash record along the corridor underscores the effectiveness of the initiative and highlights the critical importance of restricting heavy-duty vehicles during high-traffic periods.

Motorists, fleet operators, and truck drivers are therefore urged to comply fully with the restriction order, as the Corps remains steadfast in its mandate to safeguard lives and promote safer roads across the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.
