CSO Coalition Petitions Tinubu Over Allegations Against Adetunji

A coalition of civil society organisations under the Civil Society Alliance Against Corruption and Abuse of Office (CSAACAO) has petitioned President Bola Tinubu over allegations involving Surveyor Akande Moruf Adetunji, urging the Federal Government to look into the issues raised.

In the petition, the coalition requested that the allegations be investigated in line with due process, saying this would help strengthen accountability and public confidence in the civil service.

The open letter was jointly signed by the National Coordinator of CSAACAO, Comrade Gbenga Akande, and the National Secretary, Comrade Ishaya Abdullaziz, on behalf of 20 affiliated civil society organisations.

According to the coalition, the petition outlines a number of allegations relating to Adetunji's conduct in office, including claims of professional misconduct, abuse of office, unethical conduct and administrative irregularities. The coalition also referenced a reported court matter involving the public officer and called on the relevant authorities to verify the claims.

The coalition further raised concerns regarding Adetunji's retirement status and urged the appropriate government institutions to examine the issues in accordance with applicable laws and public service regulations.

CSAACAO said it believes an impartial review of the allegations would be in the public interest and encouraged the relevant authorities to take any action considered appropriate based on the outcome of such investigations.

The coalition noted that its request should be considered within the framework of due process and the constitutional presumption of innocence, stressing that the allegations remain unproven unless established by the appropriate authorities.

Copies of the petition were sent to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the Federal Civil Service Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

As of the time this report was filed, Surveyor Akande Moruf Adetunji had not publicly responded to the allegations contained in the petition. The claims have not been independently verified, and the Presidency has not issued any official response.This version further softens the language by avoiding words such as "demands," "sack," "accused," and "warned," while clearly attributing all claims to the petitioning coalition.
