…..Urges Women to Embrace Technology as the Future

Women have been charged to embrace technology to enable them standout for leadership positions in the society. Comrade Engr. Ada Maryann Mbanaso made this call at the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Women Annual Convention, held in Abuja recently.

Comrade Engr Ada Maryann Mbanaso is the National Chairperson PENGASSAN Women Commission, said the purpose of the theme, “the Dynamic Woman, She Powers The Future: Driving Industry Transformation, Innovation and Leadership,” is meant to promote the role of women in the energy sector and encourage them to take on leadership positions.

She stressed the importance of women contributions in the energy sector, revealing the association launched an initiative called Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to prepare the next generation of girls for careers in the energy sector.

In her words:

“The world is changing, energy is evolving, industries are transforming and leadership is being redefined. But we are not just witnesses to this change. We are the force behind it

“This year’s theme, She Powers the Future: Driving Industry Transformation, Innovation, and Leadership, is more than a theme It is a declaration, it is a movement. It is about every girl who dares to dream of designing machines, coding systems, building clean energy, or reshaping the world through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

“We are building platforms for the girl-child in STEM equipping her with tools, mentorship, access, and confidence to rise beyond barriers.” Engr. Comr. Mbanaso said.

Also, the first keynote speaker, the Business Services Executive Vice President of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Sophia Mbakwe, inspired women not to view themselves as second-class citizens. She urged them to be confident in tackling the stereotypes.

The Second Keynote Speaker, Engr Akpedeye Nnoli, urged the participants to create financial plan and plan for retirement

She urged the audience to invest in their future, have enough rest, eat well and go on regular check-ups.

Earlier in his remark, President of PENGASSAN Comrade Festus Osifo, said “working women are the integral part of the economy and society. They are the backbone of the workforce, contributing significantly to productivity, creativity and advancement across all sectors.”

He applauds the giant strides of PENGASSAN Women Commission (PWC), headed by Comrade Engr Ada Mbanaso, Chairperson PENGASSAN Women Commission (PWC), adding that the theme is crucial as change is dynamic. he charged the participants to think and plan for the future.

According to him, “we must start looking at the future today, thinking of artificial intelligence as the future.” He said.

Highlights of the occasion includes awards presentation to different zones of the commission and Port Harcourt Zone as the winner.
