ACOE Demands Swift Federal Action, Rallies Support for Families of Abducted Oyo, Borno Students

The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) has called on the Federal Government and relevant security agencies to intensify and expedite efforts to secure the safe rescue of students and teachers recently abducted in Oyo and Borno States, as well as all other victims being held captive by terrorists across the country.

In a statement issued over the weekend by the association's Chairman, Sola Akingboye, ACOE expressed deep sympathy and unwavering solidarity with the families, teachers, and management of the three affected schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, as well as Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, in Borno State.

The association expressed grave concern over the recurring attacks on educational institutions, describing the targeting of students pursuing their education as a direct assault on Nigeria's future.

"We stand in total solidarity with the traumatized parents, dedicated teachers, and the affected school communities during this painful and difficult period," Akingboye said.

"No parent should ever endure the agony of sending a child to school only to be left in prolonged uncertainty about the child's safety. The emotional and psychological trauma being experienced by these families is heartbreaking."

Referring to the abduction in Oriire, Oyo State, which has left families without answers for weeks, and the recent attack on students sitting for their National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations in Lassa, Borno State, ACOE urged the government to deploy every available security and intelligence resource to ensure the victims' safe return.

"We call on the Federal Government and all relevant security agencies to act with the utmost urgency," Akingboye added.

"Intelligence gathering, surveillance, and rescue operations must be intensified and sustained until every child, teacher, and other citizens held captive by terrorists are safely reunited with their families. The government must also strengthen security around schools to restore public confidence in the safety of learning environments across the country."

ACOE further extended its thoughts and prayers to all victims of terrorism, banditry, and violent crimes across Nigeria, reaffirming that the corporate online media would continue to advocate for justice, accountability, and the protection of lives and fundamental human rights.
