IWD: Chief (Amb.) Hassiat Calls for Quality Healthcare, leadership opportunities for Women  

Stakeholders have been urged to provide quality healthcare, leadership opportunities for Women. This was made known by Chief (Amb.) Hassiat, Ozavize Suleiman, on a media chat with Journalists in Abuja.

Chief (Amb.) Hassiat Ozavize Suleiman is the Special Adviser on Strategic Investment and Liaison with Federal Agencies, said the theme for 2025 International Women's Day #Accelerate Action# "Step Forward in Solidarity for International Women's Day", is a call to move beyond words and take real action for women’s empowerment.

According to her, “It is about ensuring women have a say in decision-making, access to quality healthcare, leadership opportunities, and the right education to thrive. We can not afford to wait; progress must happen now, and it starts with standing together in solidarity.” She said.

Chief (Amb.) Hassiat, who is the Convener of the Association of Women of Substance, said she witnessed Upfirsthand how collective action can transform lives. This year’s theme reminds women to move beyond conversations and take bold steps toward a more equitable society.”

While calling on women to believe in their strength, step forward with courage, and claim their space. Whether in business, politics, education, or any profession. They have the right to be heard and to lead. Lift each other up, support one another, and never underestimate the power of collective action.

In her words:

“Women empowerment is not charity, it is a necessity for progress; stronger economies, healthier communities, and better governance, all depend on women having equal opportunities. It is time for concrete policies, equal pay, leadership inclusion, quality education, and protection against violence. Let’s move from discussions to real impact.

Regarding violence against women; It is alarming, unacceptable and societal failure. Stronger laws, stricter enforcement, and better support systems are needed. But beyond legal measures, we must change mindsets. Education, awareness, and community action play a huge role in ending this cycle. Every woman deserves to feel safe in her home, workplace, and society. We cannot ignore this issue any longer”. Chief (Amb.) Hassiat, said.

This year’s theme calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all and a feminist future where no one is left behind. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation youth, particularly young women and adolescent girls as catalysts for lasting change.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day to celebrate women's achievements, advocate for their rights, educate and create awareness on women’s empowerment.
